Women supporting women - that's the pivotal aspect of WWLI, but saying it and doing it are not the same thing.  What do you do to support other women in a professional and/or personal setting and what more should we be doing for one another on a day-to-day basis?  The discussion will be facilitated by Allison Dunlap, President, Insight Investment Advisory and WWLI Member.

Discussion Agenda:

  • Welcome and review of session (2 minutes)
  • Check in - brief description of your business, how are you feeling about your business (scale of 1-5), what are the biggest challenges and opportunities you see for your business in this environment, offers and requests (20-25 minutes)
  • Women supporting Women Discussion (30 minutes)
  • Conclusion (2 minutes)
  • Open Networking for those who want to stay on (15 minutes)

Moderator bio:

Allison founded Insight Investment Advisory in search of a more personal connection to her work and in pursuit of her longtime dream of building her own company.  She has a unique perspective and wide range of skills drawn from over 16 years in investing, institutional asset management and financial services.  She believes that education and compassion are important when working with clients, helping empower them to pursue their dreams and to take control of their financial futures.

Prior to founding Insight, Allison worked in asset management for seven years, helping to select and manage investments and to cultivate and nurture individual and institutional client relationships.  Her entrepreneurial and management experience includes a five-year tenure at Alliance Partners, an asset manager that she helped build from inception.  During her time there, Allison developed and ran the sales group responsible for the distribution of over $2.0 Bn of assets to 200+ institutional clients nationwide.  She also helped establish and teach a continuing education program for the employees of these institutions, providing them with the tools and basic knowledge needed to build and manage profitable and balanced portfolios.

Allison’s professional background in corporate finance and private equity began in the investment banking division at First Union Securities in Charlotte, NC.  From there, she went on to work as an investment professional at several other financial institutions in the DC area, including GE Capital, Allied Capital and CapitalSource Finance, where she helped select, structure, underwrite and monitor investment opportunities.

Allison has an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Math from Davidson College.  Allison currently serves on the Sponsorship Committee of Washington Women’s Leadership Initiative, a local network of women supporting other women in business.  She is also Co-Chair of the Holton-Arms Alumnae Fund, which helps finance an independent school for girls that was founded in 1901 and continues to educate and inspire a diverse group of young women today.

Please note: Registration for this event is complimentary and limited to the first 15 WWLI members who sign up.  Please join the waitlist if the registration is filled, as a second session will be offered if there is demand.
