Q4 2019 Message from the Chair

Dear WWLI Members,

I’m honored to have served as WWLI’s 2019 Board Chair and proud to have spent the last three years at the board level supporting our mission to create sustaining membership for women leaders with common goals of expanding their networks and educational opportunities centered around professional leadership development.

This year we declared 2019 our year to work towards making inclusion, diversity and engagement (IDE) a top priority with each WWLI experience.  Thanks to our dedicated board, committee volunteers, and ongoing support from our sponsors, we have made great strides.

Through our collective dedication and hard work, WWLI achieved the following milestones:

  • 10% increase in our membership;
  • Increased diversity of industries that support us in annual and special event sponsorship;
  • Held our largest member event to date at the Supreme Court of the United States with Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg;
  • Continued dedication and commitment to inclusion, diversity and engagement through a wide range of speakers and events across numerous professions, sectors & nationalities; and
  • Grew to 17 members at our executive membership level, including many landing corporate and non-profit board seats thanks to our programming.

Recent studies from Gallup’s US Employee Engagement Trend show that employee engagement is on the rise. A relatively low-cost way to engage and retain employees is to create volunteering and skills-giving programs which lead to happier and healthier employees, higher productivity, and stronger leadership.  WWLI is a great way for you and the leaders of your organization to get involved and create a lasting impact.

We look forward to 2020 and hope you will join us at the following WWLI upcoming events:

Thank you again for your continued support and commitment to this amazing organization. We look forward to continuing this important journey with you. Happy holidays!

Sarah Happel
WWLI Chair
